The Salesforce Product Manager is part of the Office of Continuous Improvement team at Vanderbilt University and is responsible for the management of Vanderbilts enterprise customer relationship management, marketing, and mass communication systems. Working with cross-functional teams representing Communications, Development & Alumni Relations, Government and Community Relations, Office of the Chancellor, Office of the Provost, and Information Technology, this position is responsible for the design and implementation of thoughtful business solutions and data architecture for Vanderbilts Salesforce and related ancillary systems, MyEmma and related mass-communication platforms, and a multiple division community of users.

The Salesforce Product Manager will have a portfolio of systems for which they are responsible for managing the routine operations and implementing changes through project-based efforts. This includes serving as a key resource for operational leaders in accomplishing business goals through system design, development, and configuration. Additionally, this position is responsible for delivering excellent customer service to both end users and business process owners, monitoring recurring releases from vendors (Salesforce, Affinaquest, etc.) for system changes, conducting configuration and testing for releases, and creating detailed analysis of transactional metrics to support process optimization. The Salesforce Product Manager must be creative, a strategic thinker, innovative, resourceful, and utilize entrepreneurial thinking in meeting challenges.

The Office of Continuous Improvements Enterprise Applications team is charged with maintaining Vanderbilts mission-critical enterprise applications, training the community on system changes and best practices, working strategically across the University to build efficient, repeatable business processes, and engaging in continuous improvement activities. This team functions in a highly collaborative way, with a culture focused on supporting each other in getting the right work done the right way.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Managing Work Processes

  • Communicates comfortably at all levels within the university; consummate team player able to work effectively up, down and across the university

  • Builds and maintains strong working relationships with university stakeholders

  • System Knowledge

  • Maintains an extensive understanding of Salesforce platform and related tools and can translate business needs into technical solutions

  • Possesses a deep familiarity with the Salesforce security model and comfort with the latest Salesforce technologies, including Lightning Flows and Dynamic Forms

  • Understands integrations between Salesforce and other systems used at Vanderbilt

  • Designs scalable, robust solutions on the Salesforce platform to meet business requirements

  • Serves as an expert on Salesforce functionality and provides guidance to business on its purpose and fit with business needs

  • System Architecture

  • Translates the institutions business needs into the appropriate design and configuration, or where those needs cannot be met, work with leaders to find suitable alternatives

  • Monitors release notes for impact of upcoming system changes and communicates as necessary

  • Coordinates the evaluation, scope and completion of new development requests

  • Maintains custom objects, custom buttons/actions, formulas, validation rules, flows, workflows, process builders, approvals, and assignment rules

  • Works collaboratively with enterprise applications team, functional leaders, and information technology colleagues to prioritize change requests

  • User Support

  • Serves as escalation point for end-user support requests

  • Provides ongoing support to functional teams

  • Serve as source of truth for system functionality

  • Assists with management of vendor support requests/tickets

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree necessary

  • 3+ years of Salesforce Solutions experience including a detailed understanding of CRM core and integrated application architecture necessary

  • 4+ years of experience as a Salesforce.com administrator in a Lightning org preferred

  • Salesforce Application Architect or Salesforce Technical Architect or Salesforce Solution Architect certification preferred

  • Sales Cloud, Service Cloud and Developer certifications preferred

  • Affinaquest experience preferred
