Job Summary

The Salesforce Platform Manager provides value to the business by automating complex business processes, makes sure the system is clean and efficient and monitors new releases (these occur three times a year). Salesforce Platform Manager is the Salesforce SME within the organization and is required to have an in-depth understanding of platform customization. The role is very hands-on and takes a more strategic view of the platform.  Candidate will often need to leading small teams for complex projects.

The Salesforce Platform Manager is responsible for defining and delivering all ongoing Salesforce enhancements and projects, as well as managing the team responsible for business-as-usual support which includes prioritizing the backlog of feature requests from the business.  This position provides guidance and support to the existing Salesforce Administrators in revenue generating business units while performing Administrator duties for smaller business units.  Ensure Salesforce process documentation is developed and continually updated for both Admin users and End users.

Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree.

  • 5 years.

  • Experience as a Salesforce Administrator or Salesforce Platform Manager.
  • Exceptional communication skills as the position works with people at all levels in the organization and across the business.
  • Ability to listen and understand customer problems, needs and issues, and confidence to push back on requests which are not in the best interests of the CITGO SalesForce platform roadmap.
  • Governance and best practice are key considerations in this role.
  • Influential and motivating. The Salesforce Platform Manager will be required to drive user adoption.
  • Solution focused. For a single set of requirements, there could several solutions.
  • Project management skills to manage pipeline, demand generation, deadlines, prioritization, and process.
  • Strong commercial acumen.
  • Strong customer focus and a good understanding of order management concepts and user experience.
  • Change management skills and the ability to react quickly and delegate.

  • Ability to maintain a close understanding of workloads being distributed and constantly reassessing based on priority.

  • Salesforce Certifications for this position: Administrator, Advanced Administrator, Platform App Builder.
  • Implement AGILE methodology to plan, scope, build, test and deploy all new projects.

Job Duties

1. Manage Enterprise Platform:

  • Be main representative of Salesforce platform to the business.
  • The overall management of the platform, and collaboration with multiple teams.
  • Manage the Salesforce roadmap and plan all future platform initiatives.
  • Managing organization wide contract and licensing.
  • Manage consultants for complex projects.
  • Manage the OwnBackup processes.
  • Change management.
  • User maintenance and management.
  • Security and data management.
  • Stakeholder management.
  • Vendor management.

2. Analysis:

  • Collaborate with process owners to analyze business processes and propose process improvements enabled by information technology.  Participate in all value proposition development efforts.

3. Design and Development:

  • Delegation of tasks to Salesforce Business partners.
  • Run demos and gather feedback.
  • Prioritize backlogs of feature requests from the business.

4. Planning:

  • Monitor and manage releases and bugfixes for Salesforce platform; Formulate, communicate, and execute project plans, with limited supervision.  Provide input for project and departmental budget development.

5. Team Leadership:

  • Coordinate and influence partners in the business units. Manage and collaborate with project team members. Prepare and execute oral and written communications.
