Foundation Overview

The HealthWell Foundation is a Forbes 100-rated, Maryland-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance to underinsured Americans to help them afford life-changing medical treatments. Our mission is to reduce financial barriers to care for underinsured patients living with chronic or life-altering diseases.

Job Purpose and Position Overview

All positions at HealthWell are designed to proactively further its efforts in meeting its mission. Specifically, the Salesforce Development Manager, under direction of the Director of Architect Solutions, is expected to develop configuration and code-based solutions within the Grants Management (GMS) Salesforce application and related integrations to best leverage the application capabilities. The Salesforce Development Manager position will work closely with the Operations Management to develop solutions that will support business requirements and will drive strategic priorities.

After successful completion of onboarding activities as determined by the Director of Architect Solutions, people in this position are expected to be in-office at least two days per week, in accordance with the Foundation's telecommuting policy.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Support the execution of GMS product enhancements and issue resolution throughout the entire software development life cycle (including design, configuration/coding, testing, deployment, documentation and support).
  • Work collaboratively with team members to design a secure solution that will meet business requirements and scale the GMS platform without introducing technical debt.
  • Complete the configuration for user stories within Salesforce, AppExchange products, or other cloud-based technologies.
  • Design and develop solutions on the Salesforce.com platform, using Apex programming language.
  • Create custom objects, workflows, triggers, the Force.com IDE, migration tools, SOQL, SOSL and web services.
  • Work with Product Owner to clarify business requirements and document technical design in a ticketing system.
  • Manage native Salesforce security through configuration and code, assessing all features and functionality against Salesforce best practices.
  • Over time, demonstrate an in-depth understanding of HealthWell's Salesforce implementation, integrations and architecture.
  • Perform independent code reviews and certify code developed by yourself and other team members.

Technical Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years' experience in Salesforce implementations (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud), with proven expertise in broader integrations across diverse platforms.
  • Proficiency in writing Apex classes and triggers to develop robust solutions on the Salesforce platform.
  • Applied experience documenting technical specifications and diagrams.
  • Understanding of Visualforce, Apex, JavaScript, and CSS with the ability to keep pulse on emerging technologies.
  • Knowledge of relational databases and non-relational databases.
  • Knowledge of the Salesforce platform capabilities including process builder, flow, communities, APIs, security, etc.
  • Knowledge of programming languages and frame works such as Node, React JS, React Native and JavaScript.
  • Hands-on experience in building mobile applications and utilizing technologies such as Heroku.

Preferred Competencies

  • Full-stack development experience.
  • Salesforce Developer certification.
  • Non-profit and/or healthcare experience.
  • Experience supporting CRM technology in a contact center environment.
  • Experience with project management tools to manage tasks and due dates.
