Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

Salary Range

$144,800.00 - $238,900.00

What Is the Opportunity?

Travelers is seeking an AVP, Circle Lead / Team of Teams Lead to drive the execution of technology strategies in support of business outcomes in an agile fashion. In this highly visible position, you will be accountable for managing and helping develop the technology strategy and portfolio of solutions and capabilities spanning multiple agile teams that typically impact the entire business unit set of products. You will apply strong technical acumen, knowledge of agile practices and leadership in partnership with business counterparts to effectively define, plan and deliver technical solutions that support business outcomes in service to business strategy.

Looking for a passionate and seasoned Salesforce CRM technology leader that can lead the vision and drive the evolution of our CRM efforts, with the goal of delivering and managing CRM based business vital platforms for our multiple lines of business. Technology leader will provide thought, technology engineering, delivery and operational leadership for the Salesforce CRM ecosystem. The role focuses on leading and managing a focused Salesforce CRM technology team in developing and delivering high quality business and foundational technology applications as well as ensuring their strong operational management.

This role drives transformational technology changes across the Enterprise and requires continuous engagement with key Executive stakeholders and business leaders in the organization. This position requires an experienced and credible IT leader, capable of delivering business capabilities and ensuring their day-to-day operations management.

This position may be based 100% remotely or in one of our offices.

What Will You Do?

  • Drive strategic roadmap for the CRM ecosystem, optimizing application value and effectiveness against strategic initiatives, incorporating innovation and competitive landscape inputs and preparing the organization for growth.

  • Develop best practices, governance, standardization, streamlined application delivery and resilient day-to-day SLA driven operations.

  • Oversee Salesforce CRM platform portfolio addressing all application development and maintenance functions with regular status communication to executive management on progress and results.

  • Manage the execution, performance and quality of delivery for all the CRM platform projects.

  • Conduct oversight and governance to ensure high-value, appropriate technology solutions are only implemented with productive relationships with business leaders.

  • Develop technology solutions to meet business needs including addressing ROI and Risk factors. Translate needs into functional-technical requirements for technology initiatives that meets the needs and timelines of the stakeholders.

  • Develop the technology roadmap i.e. architecture blueprints aligned to the strategic roadmap representing current, interim and target state evolution including business capabilities and the maturity of their orchestration.

  • Data/Reporting needs as well as Technology and Architectural considerations. Ensures roadmap aligns to strategy.

  • Engages and influences line-of-business leaders to develop and manage a project portfolio that will deliver on defined business objectives. Defines budget and staffing needs in support of the portfolio and projects. Manages relationships with Salesforce and other partners that provide services and enhancements used by key stakeholders.

  • Remains informed regarding new trends and releases on the Salesforce platform and other integrated products/services and provides leadership on how those capabilities can be leveraged

  • Establishes and leads Salesforce co-create cross-functional teams. Oversees the change management, administration and utilization of the Salesforce application and partners with IT and all other stakeholders on integrations.

  • Acts as the product owner for Salesforce and owns the product vision and roadmap.

  • Implements strategic enhancements that result in improved productivity, efficiency and effectiveness. Manages and mentors team members in the Center of Excellence to ensure high quality delivery.

  • Oversees and manages all aspects of Salesforce configuration, functional capabilities and potential system implications related to the major Salesforce release upgrades.

  • Communicates regularly with all Salesforce stakeholders to ensure services meet business needs as well as technical or regulatory requirements.

  • Maintains familiarity with other systems and business applications to make recommendations and/or endorse potential upstream/downstream integration points.

  • Aligns Salesforce Value Stream with current trends in customer engagement and marketing strategies.

  • Lead, define, communicate and champion a large and complex body of work spanning multiple agile teams (i. e. Team of Teams) working toward common business outcomes typically impacting the entire line of business.

At this level, you generally lead:

  • 5-15 teams (100 - 150 total people)

  • Multiple complex business units or product lines/assets

  • Extensive interdependencies

  • Emerging technologies

  • Help to shape technology strategy/capability and accountable for holistic application of the strategy and roadmap for achieving the strategy, vision and business outcomes; articulate the Circle / Team of Teams vision and strategy effectively to teams and executive-level stakeholders; stewardship of technical assets to ensure stability, availability, scalability and maintainability.

  • Partner with business Circle Lead to effectively plan and deliver technical solutions that support business outcomes.

  • Effectively drive, manage, implement and track one or more complex portfolios of deliverables, features and capabilities as well as 'test and learn'/experimentation targeted at defining/refining future deliverables, measuring performance, automating across life cycles, and adjusting the overall roadmap of deliverables as needed.

  • Support the prioritization of interdependent team technology backlogs, addressing risks and dependencies (Often spanning multiple Circles and Lines of Businesses) to defined outcomes and ensuring overall alignment with technology and business strategy; Make trade-off decisions to balance quality, cost, and timelines to maximize value; utilize and adhere to technology standards.

  • Identify innovative solutions both internally and in the external marketplace; ensure competitive and industry benchmarking of critical technical knowledge and capabilities.

  • Responsible for technical resource allocation, including vendor management, on-boarding, performance management, and offshore approach/structure.

  • Lead positive team dynamics, encourage collaboration and drive appropriate levels of self-organization; Assess, utilize, and partner with external resources and partners to meet agreed upon expectations, as needed.

  • Manage multi-team dynamics; remove impediments to teams success and assist in conflict resolution, issue and dependency management; collaborate with other team members and neighbors to improve team velocity.

  • Build and foster collaborative relationships across other Circles, business areas and with key partners (e. g. technology architects), with the ability to influence executive-level leadership.

  • Help grow agile maturity within and across teams.

  • People-management responsibilities for technology team members and may manage other Technology Circle Leads as well.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • Six years of experience in an agile/execution leadership role delivering technology solutions on a demanding schedule preferred

  • Five years of people leadership/ management experience preferred. Collective team size here will be 100-150 people.

  • Experience driving the strategic roadmap for the Salesforce CRM ecosystem, optimizing application value and effectiveness against strategic initiatives.

  • Oversee Salesforce CRM platform portfolio addressing all application development and maintenance functions with regular status communication to executive management on progress and results.

  • Experience incorporating innovation and competitive landscape inputs and preparing the organization for growth.

What is a Must Have?

  • Seven years of relevant technology experience required.

  • Four years of people leadership/ management experience required.
